She Rises Slowly

I found her at the east window
half deflated and hanging
upon a tree

she looked drunk
foggy
hazy
carefree
insouciant

I spoke to her “there you are”
she nodded and went back to
her reverie
I went back to bed

later I looked out to the south
and found her shrunken and
pale
biding her time

refusing to make
excuses
